“They tried to bury us, but they didn't know we were seeds. I hope people recognize that we are continuing to fight and uprise against the injustices that are happening on all levels.” - Jasmine Dellafosse

This episode was the convening and conversation with City of Stockton Community Leaders and our final follow-up conversation from both our “State of our Youth: A Stockton Townhall Meeting” we hosted in May of 2019 and the original 12 episode documentary series “From Bankruptcy to Reinvention - The City of Stockton that we produced in 2016 and 2017.

The title of today’s episode is The Opportunity that is Stockton - where do we go from here, a reflective conversation with the loss of Mayor Tubbs re-election we wanted to bring together as many of the voices featured in the original radio documentary series to have them update the community and listeners on their work going forward within the context of both a new City Administration, a global pandemic and an economic meltdown as well as how they are engaged with the community to continue to develop solutions facing Stockton and San Joaquin County community members.

This promise that this city should provide its Stocktonian residents, the promise of opportunity that has been denied. And so I think that we’re harnessing that by intergenerational bottom-up, you know, all hands on deck movement. But we also know that there’s great resistance to this, right and we’ve learned some valuable lessons about how to organize differently. And I think that we need to practice compassion and harmony
